unidades despliegan en su afán de alcanzar una vida digna; ii) mostrar la
pluriactividad de la economía campesina, sus estrategias para enfrentar la
pobreza, consolidando sus bases económicas y productivas; iii) contribuir
en el diseño de un esquema que posibilite avanzar hacia una alianza que
asegure un desarrollo sostenible, construido y promovido desde el ámbito
comunitario, articulado regional y nacionalmente.

Poverty and Peasant Survival Strategies in Guatemala,
Honduras, and Nicaragua, 2014-2015
Abstract
This article provides information and microeconomic analysis of peasant economies
from three Central American countries: Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. The
fundamental interest that guided the process of reconstruction of the economic accounting
of such economies was to determine the gap between the income and the access to the basic
food basket and services linked to cost of living.
Based on this information, the article aims to: i) contribute to the processes of dialogue
and design of effective policies for poverty reduction recognizing the strategies that
deployed by the peasant unit of production and reproduction in the quest to achieve a
decent life; ii) show the pluri-activity of the peasant economy, its key strategies to confront
poverty through the consolidation of economic and productive bases; iii) outline a basic
blueprint to move towards an alliance that ensures sustainable development that is both
designed and promoted at the community level and articulated regionally and nationally.
