Abstract
Foreign Direct Investment -FDI- is considered a key factor for growth in developing
countries, as in the case of Guatemala. With the passage of time, there has been
renewed interest in a particular world occupy an important position in the receipt
of these investment flows. The vast majority of these flows are concentrated in
countries with certain characteristics that make them significantly better or more
competitive than the rest.
The ultimate goal is to improve opportunities for citizens and create conditions for
the country’s development through the cooperation of the rest of the world.
Leaving this clear, this research seeks to prioritize the variables that may be more
important through a vector autoregression model (VAR).
The research results allow us to observe the importance of factors such as
macroeconomic stability, trade liberalization and the performance of the economy.
