en sus tierras. Aunque la escala y 
el número de víctimas no llega a los 
niveles de las registradas durante 
aquel conflicto, las experiencias 
de los q’eqchi’s sobre violencia, 
desplazamiento y violaciones de 
derechos humanos, constituyen un 
balance ambiguo y contradictorio para 
cualquier interpretación del progreso 
e Guatemala hacia la democracia, 
desde la firma de los Acuerdos de Paz 
en 1996.
