Tranquilino Castañeda thought that he had lost his wife and nine chil-
dren in the Dos Erres massacre. At the age of 70, he discovered that 
his youngest son, who was three years old when the massacre occurred, 
had survived, had been raised by a Kaibil soldier and currently lives in 
the US.
